Introduction to the Computer Engineering Major

Computer Engineering includes the design, implementation, and programming of digital computers and computer-controlled electronic systems. The School of Computing and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering jointly offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. The program is administered by the Computer Engineering Committee, which consists of faculty members from both departments.

Computer Engineering is a software and hardware-oriented degree whose requirements include courses offered by the School of Computing and/or the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. A student must be admitted as a major in the program in order to take advanced courses (computer science courses numbered 3000 or higher and electrical engineering courses numbered 2000 or higher) and pursue the Computer Engineering degree.
