What is Computer Engineering

Computer Engineering includes the design, implementation, and programming of digital computers and computer-controlled electronic systems. The School of Computing and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering jointly offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. The program is administered by the Computer Engineering Committee, which consists of faculty members from both departments. Computer Engineering is a software and hardware-oriented degree whose requirements include courses offered by the School of Computing and/or the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. A student must be admitted as a major in the program in order to take advanced courses (computer science courses numbered 3000 or higher and electrical engineering courses numbered 2000 or higher) and pursue the Computer Engineering degree.

Applications

Applications are accepted at any time during the academic year but will be processed at the time of grades posting for each semester. Thus, if a student wants to be admitted for Fall semester, and application must be received prior to Summer semester grades positing. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the program advisor, Alec Down, with any questions.
